About the Band:
The Premier Classic Rock Band on the Central Coast
Our band name is reminiscent of the great highway “Route 66” which has become synonymous with road trips, vacations, or just cruising and listening to your favorite songs on the radio. While our play list is centered
primarily on hits from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s we also feature a variety of other offerings including some
modern rockers, classic blues and even sprinkle in some country. We’ve been playing on the central coast for
over ten years including concerts in the park, the Mid-State Fair, central coast wineries and of course local club
venues. Additionally, Route 66 has experience playing for weddings, private and corporate parties.
Candy Arend:
Candy was “born to sing” as an
accomplished vocalist she has an extensive resume of
singing with several local bands. When she’s not singing
lead on songs such as Elle Kings’ Ex’s and Oh’s, Melissa
Ethridge’s “I’m the Only One”, or Bonnie Raitt’s “Pride
and Joy” she’s contributing spot-on harmonies on such
tunes as the Eagles “Take It Easy”, or a duet on the
Stevie Nicks/Tom Petty song Stop Draggin’ My Heart
Around.
Mike Kee:
In addition to playing in several
bands, Mike has a history in the theater including
multiple shows with the San Luis Obispo Little Theatre
where he demonstrated his vocal talent when he
channeled Roy Orbison to play the lead in “Orbison”, and yes Route 66 plays several songs by the great Roy
Orbison. Mike can rock it up with Elton John’s Crocodile
Rock, or provide a super smooth rendition of the classic
“Unchained Melody”. Mike is the band’s country super
star when he gets his “Cash” on singing “Folsom Prison
Blues.”
David Feldman:
Dave is truly a musician’s
musician starting out in elementary school with the
cello. He has worked with artists like Ray Charles and
Etta James on the R&B side, to Doug Kershaw and Molly
Bee on the country side. Playing many instruments, he
has a deep love for rhythm & blues and soul. Dave can
be heard on such crowd pleasers as the great Warren
Zevon’s song Werewolves of London, or on
Springsteen’s “Pink Cadillac. Still searching for the
ultimate chord Dave is the band’s cosmic musical
inspiration.
